E4SAlliance  Expands Grid Digitization Ecosystem

Today, Schneider Electric is joining the Edge for Smart Secondary Substations (E4S) Alliance, created to develop a standard, flexible, manageable and interoperable platform for next-generation Smart Grids. Having some of the largest distribution system operators in the world partnering with technology providers to co-develop an entirely new solution will revolutionize the energy transition and help achieve a climate-neutral economy. The E4S Alliance is helping digitize the grid and make it data driven in order to meet carbon neutrality.

Distribution System Operators (DSOs) will benefit from an open standard based secure and highly scalable platform to monitor, protect and control the electrical grid. Virtualization of applications, in combination with edge computing leads to lower total cost of ownership, faster time to market for new applications and more efficient management and delivery of electricity.

Schneider Electric major ambition is to accelerate more Green, more electrification and more digital, developing a portfolio of green products, cutting-edge software and services and DSOs are at the center of this new energy landscape. “We are glad to contribute to the E4S objectives and share our application know-how on hardware, software and cybersecurity to define a new standard to manage future MV/ LV substations” said Valerie Layan, Vice-President Power & Grid Europe.
